Coral Restoration Trip – The Island School, Eleuthera, Bahamas
The Island School has accommodations for 14 ADFC divers. The trip is capped at 14 divers. We can not add any more, so if you are interested in this trip, don’t delay; sign up quickly. We will stay at the Island School and work with The Bahamas Coral Innovation Hub (BCIH). This project is a collaboration between the Cape Eleuthera Institute (CEI), Perry Institute for Marine Science (PIMS), and The Nature Conservancy (TNC). This trip is in a remote location and is ONLY for experienced coral restoration divers. The island school is not a resort. There are no restaurants. We will be eating at the Island School Cafeteria. Nighttime activities will most likely involve card games.

- All fees for tanks, weights, and boats are included for working dives on the reef.
- Coral Reef Rescue Class & Certification
- All Meals (Cafeteria Style)
- Lodging – double occupancy (dormitory style)

Airfare - Airport Travel and Transfers –
From the east coast of the US, you can easily find flights to Nassau (NAS). From there you can take a small plane from NAS into Rock Sound (RSD) which is on Eleuthera. It is approximately 30 minutes from the Island School. Transfers to and from this airport are included in the trip costs. BahamasAir is the local carrier that runs a morning flight and an afternoon flight. There may be a midday flight as well.It is recommended you have at least 3 hours layover between your international flight into NAS and your domestic flight as all visitors have to go through customs and immigration upon arrival and departure (yes, you will clear United States Customs and Immigration at the Nassau airport when you are departing back to the USA!)

ADFC TRIP POLICIES
Registration
To book a space on an ADFC Trip, fill out the form on this page. A deposit is required to confirm your reservation. Please note that if reserving multiple spaces, you agree to be financially responsible for all spaces booked. Each space is considered a separate reservation subject to the cancellation and refund policy detailed below.
Deposit: A $500 deposit is required to reserve a space on the trip. We can take payments in several ways. Click the link above to pay by credit card or debit card. If you pay by credit card, a fee of 2.5% will be added to the trip cost.
Pricing
Unless otherwise noted, the advertised price for a trip is the rate per diver, based on double occupancy. Prices do not include airfare.
All single travelers will be paired with a roommate of the same gender (if available) upon signing up for the trip. Participants are encouraged to secure their own roommates for the trip. However, the ADFC trip leader will also help pair roommates. Participants will be notified if a suitable roommate is unavailable within 30 days before departure. This trip does not allow for single occupancy rooms.
Please inquire with the trip leader for more information.
Payments
Payment installments are typically due on three occasions: upon reserving space, 180 days from departure, and 90 days from departure. Payment reminder e-mails are sent in advance of the payment due date. An adjusted payment schedule will apply if the reservation is made less than 180 days from departure. See below for complete details. Please contact your trip leader to discuss an alternative payment schedule if necessary.
If a payment is not received within 14 days past the due date, a 10% late fee will be added to the balance owed. If a payment is outstanding for 30 days, the participant’s space on the trip may be released, and all funds paid will be forfeited.
If you will be out of e-mail contact on a payment due date, please notify your ADFC Trip Leader in advance to make payment arrangements.
ADFC Program Fee
An ADFC Program Fee ($200-300) will be added to the cost of each reservation. The Fee covers a portion of the group leader(s) costs, seminars, tools, and data management. The Fee varies depending on the location and duration of the trip. The Fee applies to all individuals over the age of 18 and to minors under 18 who occupy a space on the dive boat.
Deposit and Payment Schedule
Booking greater than 180 days before departure:
- $500 deposit to secure your space* NOW
- Payment #2 (50% of remaining balance) due 90 days prior to trip departure. Due on January 25
- Final Payment (remaining balance plus REEF Fee) due 60 days prior to trip departure. Due on February 25
*The deposit amount may vary depending on the destination and/or trip package price. Trips with a total package price under $1,000 will require a $250 deposit to reserve your space.
Cancellations, Refunds, and Substitutions
We know that plans sometimes change, and life gets in the way. If your plans change and you need to cancel your space on a trip, a cancellation notice must be made in writing. Each space is considered a separate reservation subject to the cancellation and refund policy.
If you need to cancel your space on this ADFC Trip, the following refund policy applies:
Cancellation Policy:
- Before 90 days from the departure date, $100 per person processing fee applies
- 90-60 days before departure date: 50% of the total amount on hand with ADFC at the date of cancellation is NON-refundable unless otherwise noted on the individual trip webpage
- Less than 60 days before departure date: Refunds have yet to be available.*
If you need to cancel and have someone who can take your place (for the exact booking type, gender, bedding, etc.), please get in touch with your listed trip leader to make arrangements. A full refund of payments made to date, minus a $100 processing fee, will be given upon receipt of payment from your replacement.
When a credit is issued due to a cancellation, ADFC will first apply the credit to outstanding invoices for other ADFC Trips and then issue a refund of any remaining credit. Guests can also convert any refund owed to a charitable donation to ADFC. Credit on hand must be used within 2 years of issue unless other arrangements have been made.
*Our policy is intended to be fair to our guests yet prevent the loss of ADFC funds. When a reservation is canceled within 60 days before departure (and therefore no refund upon cancellation), if the trip runs full/sold out and we can rebook the canceled space within the same parameters as the original booking, we will refund the total paid less 25% after the trip has concluded. If a reservation is canceled between 90 and 60 days before departure (and therefore, a 50-75% refund was offered upon cancellation), if the trip runs full/sold out and we are able to resell the canceled space within the same parameters as the original booking, we will refund an additional 25% (of funds on hand when the cancellation was received) after the trip has concluded.
ADFC may alter the payment schedule or cancellation policy based on vendor rules for a particular trip. Please consult the individual trip details and contact your trip leader to determine a trip’s cancellation policy and payment deadlines.
No refunds can be issued for unused portions of any dive travel package, including but not limited to ground transportation, dives, nitrox, and meals, regardless of the reason(s) it was not used.
On each ADFC Trip, the Trip Leader works with the dive operator to plan a schedule that best meets the needs and objectives of the trip. However, the dive operation crew, boat captain(s), and in some cases the charitable organization make all decisions regarding dive sites and schedules. A trip may have to be diverted in cases of weather conditions if the dive operation feels that there is a safety risk.
ADFC Trips require a minimum number of participants. Trips are subject to cancellation if the minimum requirement is not met. In the event of trip cancellation, ADFC and/or any of our travel booking partners are not responsible for airline tickets purchased for travel on an ADFC Trip.
