This webinar, hosted by Aquarium Divers For Coral Society (ADFC), is a call to action to the scuba diving community asking that you include volunteer coral restoration work in your dive trips. We need your help to “Turn the Tide with Volunteers!” The foundations and the scientists are working very hard to get ahead of the coral decline but they need help to scale efforts and stabilize the reef.
During this webinar, you will find out from ADFC what coral restoration work entails and get suggestions on how to include this valuable work in your dive trips. ADFC is now 4 years old and volunteers doing missions with 7 foundations in the Caribbean and the Florida Keys.
Hear the latest update from Reef Renewal Foundation Bonaire with information on their efforts to save their reef system in the Southern Caribbean. This will include the role of volunteers and how you can work with them.
Also, get an update from I.CARE (Islamorada Conservation And Restoration Education) about the status of the coral reefs in the Florida Keys, specifically the world-famous Alligator Reef. I.CARE is partnered with MOTE Marine Labs and transplants MOTE’s corals to the reef, and monitors and maintains the reef. They engage volunteer divers and the local community to help stabilize the reef. Learn more about their program for recreational divers and how to get involved.
There will be an opportunity for questions and answers.
